PYGORA. This wonderful little goat is known as the goat for all reasons. A cross between the playful, friendly, spirited pygmy goat and the more docile angora goat with it’s wonderful wool, the pygora is a mix of all the best of both breeds.

She’s a convenient size and is agreeable to handling, even for children. She is cheerful and friendly and fun to have around, playful even into adult years. Pygora goats love to be petted and made over.

She grows a big, soft, beautiful, warm and curly fleece every year—sometimes twice a year—which is a delight to spin and outstanding for knitting and crocheting, producing a soft and silky garment.

Pygora goats come in a variety of colors from white to black, including many shades of cream and caramel and red and brown. The lighter colors take dyes wonderfully well, especially natural fiber and plant dyes.

For more about the pygora go to the Pygora Breeders Association website and click on Questions and Answers about the Pygora Goat.

Registered Scottish Highland Cattle!

Scottish Highland Cattle

HIGHLANDS. Highlands are docile, people-friendly, hardy animals originally developed in Scotland. They do well in partly grassy, partly brushy terrain and do not need a conventional barn or loafing shed for shelter; trees work fine.

These wonderful animals are traditionally red in color, but other colors are also available, ranging from white to yellow to brindle. Highlands are beef cattle; their diet in the winter can be supplemented by about ½ bale of hay and a couple of scoops of wet cobb each day.

Highland cattle have a stocky build, long horns, and long hair. A shock of long hair extends down over their eyes and around their ears; they love to be scratched and combed. Highlands breed and calve easily, and the American Highland Cattle Association provides guidelines for herd care.

Members of the ACHA and local associations have an active internet communications network, so new owners have plenty of support. Owners also gain ongoing information from regional meetings and the breed’s magazine, The Bagpipe. We’ll take you for a pick-up ride to see our herd out “in the bush.” Contact us anytime.
